Firing Up the Rumor Mill
Tech journalism thrives on rumors about cutting edge mobile devices, and their tentative release dates. Every year around this time the Apple rumor mill starts up with theories as to when the latest iPhone will come out. Apple goes out of its way every year to surprise us. Fall 2011 saw a bunch of speculation as to whether the iPhone 5 would be released in October. Instead, we got the iPhone 4S, which was meant with equal parts surprise and disappointment. The latest release of the iPhone saw a bunch of new features, like Siri and better HD video capture capabilities. Still, there is much anticipation over the features and hardware updates in the latest device as we get closer to the iPhone 5 release date.
Predicting the iPhone’s Future
Since Apple product development is so top secret, predicting when the iPhone 5 will arrive is difficult at best, and near impossible. But tech bloggers and journalists all over the world have become experts at noticing some tell-signs as the potential release of the iPhone 5 gets closer and closer.
First off, a major prediction is that Apple is killing off all 3GS devices. This prediction comes from the fact that Apple is upgrading, and making major changes to the App Store. This is significant due to the fact that the new App Store will feature a screen resolution quality boost that the iPhone 3GS cannot support with it’s onboard graphics hardware. With the updates to the iPhone App Store, as well as a host of other improvements slated for the latest iOS upgrade, the iPhone 5 is predicted to be right around the corner.

Experts say the iPhone 5 could be released as soon as April, but the realistic predictions land the smart phone’s release date closer to May or June. Historically, full iPhone upgrades have been released in the late spring or late summer months. According to reports from several reputable bloggers and tech journalists, the Chinese manufacturers of the iPhone are gearing up for production. This would make sense that predictions land the latest iPhone’s release in early summer.
Ethics and the iPhone 5
There is some pressure on Apple to improve working conditions at the Chinese manufacturing plant. In recent months there have been reports of harsh working conditions at the plant. Concerned citizens and loyal iPhone users are pushing pressure on Apple to make an ethically-minded iPhone device. Considering the massive popularity of Apple products in recent years, this is an aspect of business that will require their immediate attention.
Predicted Hardware Upgrades
In addition to the predicted iOS updates, there are several form factor and hardware upgrades to Apple’s newest release of its popular smart phone. Among these predicted hardware upgrades is a larger display with powerful high definition resolution, glass-to-glass touch panel technology, and a more slim and modern design.
As usual, you can expect to be surprised and wowed by the newest iPhone. Apple has gained notoriety for the flashy tricks up their sleeves when designing and reinventing their cutting edge products. There’s no reason to expect any different in anticipating the iPhone 5 this summer.
